Title CROSS POLLINATION: SCHOOL GARDENS CONNECT CURRICULUM AND COLLEAGUES (Feb 19)
Year 2017/2018
Subject Area Sustainability
Audience Group Elementary & Secondary Teachers
Available to other districts? Yes
Description The sessions are mostly relevant to elementary teachers, but secondary teachers new to gardening and food literacy may benefit as well. All are welcome!

Are you interested in starting or using a school garden as a year-round learning ground, but need help getting started? Do you need tips for incorporating the school garden into the curriculum? Do you want to harvest and use your school garden’s produce in your classroom? Would you like to meet like-minded teachers with whom to network and share ideas? Join us for this day connecting you to the soil and to one another.
The day will involve 2 breakout sessions. Participants will choose from 6 mini workshops on 3 themes:
1) Hands-on gardening (including the new VSB beginner gardening workshop, Rooted in Place),
2) Food literacy, and
3) Integrating gardening and food into the curriculum.
Registrants will receive a complete schedule in February to choose 2 workshops from the list.
After a morning full of gardening, learning and cooking, we’ll enjoy the lunch that we prepare together, and you’ll have an opportunity to network with like-minded teachers and local experts.
